Who we are
Our Story
The Birds & The Bees began as a simple dream—a way to step away from corporate life and reconnect with nature. What started as a small backyard hobby quickly grew into a heartfelt passion for raising animals, tending the earth, and sharing the joy that comes from it.
In 2020, Bryan and Zhanna welcomed their first flock of chickens to their Pleasant Hill backyard. Fresh eggs, morning clucks, and a new sense of peace soon became part of their everyday life. Not long after, fate stepped in with a funny twist.
During a neighborhood barbecue, a neighbor mentioned he had a wild swarm of bees living in his tree and didn’t know what to do. Bryan and Zhanna had talked about keeping bees “someday,” but had no idea how they’d ever get started. That night, their neighbor asked Bryan if he’d help catch the swarm—and said he could keep it if he did. And just like that, with a veil, a box, and a bit of bravery, their beekeeping journey officially began.
Life on the Farm
Today, Bryan and Zhanna spend their days caring for their chickens, gathering eggs, tending their garden, and—of course—watching over the busy hives. Bryan has developed a deep love for beekeeping, spending countless hours studying hive behavior, taking classes, and jotting down everything he learns. Zhanna brings joy and creativity to the farm, cherishing their animals and helping every part of the farm feel warm and welcoming.
When they’re not tending to the farm, you can usually find them outdoors—hiking, going to the lake, enjoying the snow, or exploring anywhere nature calls.
What We Make
All of our products are handmade, all-natural, eco-friendly, and small-batch.
We offer:
Fresh Cage-Free Eggs
Raw Local Honey
Handmade Beeswax Soap
Natural Beeswax Leather Conditioner
Because we follow nature’s rhythm, many of our items are seasonal and limited, arriving only when the chickens lay, the bees build, and the harvest is ready.
Our Values
We believe animals deserve the very best quality of life. Our chickens are cared for lovingly, our bees are respected and tended gently, and our land is treated with gratitude.
Most of all, we cherish our community. The Birds and The Bees grew from the generosity of neighbors—and now we hope to share our small-batch bounty with the people around us. Every egg, jar, and handmade good is crafted with care and meant to bring a little bit of nature’s warmth into your home.
